External Change Orders deduct from Misc. Parts budget

I'm a little confused by this comment. Are you using the misc. price adjsutment or an allowance?

Eric Kalpakoff I'd like to be able to use the Misc. Parts adjustment as an "allowance", allowing me to use those funds for Change Orders.

Caleb Fetter Do you use allowances for Misc.? We have one setup in the catalog for Misc. Materials and another for Shipping that auto calculate based on the cost/sell of the project. Once the project is approved, if items are missing that need to be added, we add them to the Misc. Allowance whichs costs them against it and shows a remaining budget. How are you doing it differently?

Eric Kalpakoff No, we use allowances for allowances for unspecified products and such. I'm attempting to use the Misc. funds for more of a "contingency", but would only really work for us if we don't have to manually adjust the Misc. amounts every time we added something.

Caleb Fetter We had started using the Misc. adjustment way early on and found it problematic for that very reason. We since created several catalog allowances for misc., shipping, sub contractors, bonds, etc. at it has worked pretty well at this point. When creating shops, all missing items are added to the allowance as it locks its price once the project is approved. It's pretty tidy in terms of tracking misc. as well. For larger projects or phased projects, we change the auto-calculations to be specifice to a location and put one in every space, so each room can have it's own misc. Super flexible. But, doesn't add a line to the project summary which would be rad.
