OFE as options in products
Shawn Lemay
We are almost always integrating 3rd party devices (cable boxes, for example) and need to show that in the proposal. While we can drop the cable box and then manually go edit it and select OFE - it would be nice if we could, please, have these options when creating these devices in our products catalog. Just makes integrating them 10x faster when proposing please.

We are in the same boat as Cody. We would like to create our OFE equipment in the database with the BOX pre-checked as OFE.
As it is now we have accounting pointing at us to take the human error hits.

I have to agree, we need OFE gear marked OFE - on the exports to our accounting system, but in the proposal and drawings. This really needs to be able to be set in the catalog so we dont have to remember to manually set them all in the design every. single. time.

We made a manufacturer called OFE, and gave the products generic names. OFE - Cable Box or OFE - Flat Panel. The show labor and work for drawings. If I don't need to show make/model its a good fit. When I do need show make/model I will determine if I replace the comp-ID with that or add the right item and mark it as OFE and DNO. It has worked pretty well and run our reports with filters the not show them.

Eric Kalpakoff: Except that D-Tools will complain to you that your proposal has errors (can't have zero cost and zero sell price). We do this too, currently, as a workaround - but have to manually still go in and click OFE to eliminate the error.

Shawn Lemay: Complain yes, but I buck authority ;)

Eric Kalpakoff: LOL - true... but I'm trying to teach our guys to make sure there are no errors (too many mistakes in proposals, as they ignore this simple error check). Problem is solved if we could just check OFE in a product item listing - so we can have OFE vendor with products under it.

Shawn Lemay: I hear you, I took it a step further and our proposals are setup to ignore certain systems as well. For example, we have a system called 'Drawing aids' that we use when making drawings and need to show an item that should not be included in the proposal. For example a power outlet or a data drop. The same setup could be used for OFE items. At, least then all the bad yellow exclamation marks are collected into a single place.

DNO can be on products in catalog in the Order tab
Shawn Lemay
Naresh Nichani: Corrected - really I'm needing and looking for OFE.
Shawn Lemay
Yes we can put zero cost and zero markup - D-Tools still flags it as an error in the listing that we have to go back and fix (yellow caution alert). So defaulting this just makes the process quicker.
