Product association for projects

is there a way to associate two items with each other that are not actually connected in the job? For example, a display - TV, projector, etc. - has an associated mount. How to link them. When we move a display or change mounting for a display, how to find the mount and ancillary equipment associated with that display in the project editor (besides filtering for location).

Mark Cohea It sounds like you are talking about product accessories. Please take a look at this page: https://docs.d-tools.com/en/articles/9208836-adding-accessories-for-items

Kevin Frye No, i'm not talking about product accessories. We only use accessories in a limited manner - only for accessory items that come from the same manufacturer as the parent. The reason being, is that there are way too many variables on accessories - for example display mounts from 2-3 manufacturers and multiple mounting options - wall, ceiling, tilt, swivel, etc. And the accessories within a project would vary from location to location.

Mark Cohea 1. Add a display. 2. Add a mount. 3. Select mount, right click -> Convert -> Items to accessories. 4. Choose the display.
And I believe that the number of choices for accessories across similar products is actually not that large and often the same choice. Add MANY mounts and options within the catalog, mark one (or none) as "Recommend" and let them all be a prompt upon adding the item. You only get the ones you select when adding BUT you get choices.

Mark what Kevin said is the way. You could also accomplish this with solid categorization practices and a generic 'mount' item that could include built-in 'alternates' that you could select from and promote. We did this with displays where the customer could see the different prices for the different sizes. It can be anoying to keep up-to-date tho and I don't recommend it.
